$30 helps purchase a video game for a patient

"To this day, our son still talks about how fun it was to be in the hospital because he got to play Wii in his room! Truly, the day they brought the Wii system in was the day he got off his oxygen 24/7 and the day he smiled for the first time in four days." -Meg Beaird, grateful parent

Video games are a fun outlet for our patients, helping children relax during long hospital stays. During lengthy procedures such as chemotherapy infusions, blood transfusions or dialysis, patients often play video games as a distraction to lessen anxiety. The playrooms and patient rooms are always in need of games for Xbox and Wii, as well as small electronic handheld games.

Last summer Texas Ranger pitcher C.J. Wilson donated $3,350 worth of gaming equipment to Children's through his foundation C.J. Wilson's Children's Charities. His generous donation is providing fun, distraction and normalcy for patients in the Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders.
